Change Why Change?

Back in January 2007 along with the new year something became clear.

After almost 3 years and 50 concerts together, AA (The Machine) decided to leave the be-funk project and persue other carreer opportunities, as they would say in the corporate world.

We will certainly miss his steady drumbeat, his impressive technique, his drinking skills, his women fatal attraction powers and his eastern english acent. All aspects which gratly contributed to the evolution of be-funk.

So while being a rather sad news we decided to continue to bring you the FUNK and the FUN.

The hard task of finding a suitable replacement had to start. At be-funk we strive to bring you only the best! So we efficienly devided the continents among the remaining 4 of us. Travelled the world, listened to all living creatures who could play or even do drum like sounds. But a few months into 2007 we still did not find the ideal candidate.

It was only around end of Febuary back home trying to relax from this cumbersome search that AF decided to chill out in the Delirium Cafe in Brussels. He remembers this very well. It was a Thursday, and by chance that was a Jam Session night.

The stage saw several sets of musicians filling up the soundscape, he was listening at distance losing himself in a wonderful Leffe Brune when all of a sudden he heard drumming from outta space. He took his Leffe and approached the stage, he had to see what was going on.
And there he was! This impressive feel, outsanding listening capabilities and incredible taste all came from this long haired individual. The search was over. AF had to talk to him.

"Hi, what's your name? ... I like your drumming ... how is your time schedule? ... Would you be avaliable for playing in a FUNK band?
The questions rushed and Nico almost had no time between a question and the next one. When AF managed to handle the excitement, he arranged for a tryout with the rest of the band.
